Let’s Set September 2026 Goals
My writer productivity skyrockets when I set monthly writer goals, and it’s time to share my September 2026 goals. At the beginning of each week I break them down into daily tasks that fit my current schedule. Do you know how great it is to finish projects? Of course you do! For me, setting monthly goals makes it all possible.
Every month I share how I did the previous month as well as what my new goals are. Let’s get to it!

I didn’t set August goals this year. I was feeling pretty burned out from writing back to back to back books. August ended up being good for me. I took a family vacation–loved it!–and put together my own personal intensive education program (a Mastery Quest) to keep me busy along with my writing for the next six months.
With that in mind, I’m skipping the How Did I Do portion and diving right into September goals.
JILL’S SEPTEMBER 2026 GOALS
WRITING:
- Write the final book in Wyoming Inheritance series
- Prep for late September release of His First Country Christmas
- Mastery Quest: 3 days/week studying book on writing craft, reading two classic romance novels
HEALTH:
- Fresh vegetables and fruits every day. High protein meals. Minimal high-processed foods. Eat less.
- Strength train three days per week. Yoga or walking two days per week
- Mini-workouts at least 5 evenings a week–a 10 minute walk, or 15 minutes on the stationary bike, mobility exercises, etc. I also added 10-minute dance workouts I found on YouTube for those “too hot” days!
PERSONAL:
- Enjoy the final days of warm weather
- Dust off the recipes for yummy dips to eat while watching football
- Watch at least one movie that reminds me of autumn
September always feels like a new year or a new beginning to me. It’s the back-to-school vibe. And I wanted to capture it this year by starting my own intense learning program. The days and weeks and months go by so quickly anymore. It feels good knowing I’m making the most of them.
What goals do you have for September? I’d love to hear them!

I have a humongous reading list this month. Thankfully, I have only a couple of shorties to edit for clients. I’d also like to get some reading challenges created for some groups on Goodreads. Plus, I have a writing goal of 5,000 words. I’m hoping to double that, but settling into a new story while not in the mood for writing is not exactly easy. It might be a chip-away-at-it sort of a month for me.
