Could her fresh start…be the answer to his prayers?
Widowed rancher Ben Wright doesn’t need more complications, especially not runaway goats from the pretty new farmer next door, Jessica Howard. With three kids, a farm and a baseball team to coach, he’s earned his gruff reputation. Jessica left a draining social work career in Houston, hoping for a fresh start and to save her inherited farm from debt—the last thing she needs is a grumpy neighbor. But despite their rocky start, Jessica begins to see past his tough exterior as she spends time with his kids. When old hurts arise, Ben and Jessica must decide…is a future together worth fighting for?

Q&A with Jill:
Have you ever written a book as part of a continuity before? What did you enjoy about it? What challenged you?
No, I haven’t, and I was excited to take part in this one. I loved finding out what Lee, Tina, and Mindy had planned for some of the main characters, then incorporating them into my book. The most challenging part was wrapping up the series. I didn’t want to disappoint the readers!
What about this book will readers enjoy the most?
The grumpy versus sunshine trope! I can’t resist a story with a grumpy, hot cowboy and the woman who makes him lighten up. Ben’s kids and the neighbor’s goats made me laugh out loud, and I think readers will love learning more about Patty Wright and Jim Stewart.
What research did you need to do?
I did a lot of goat research–how to raise them, how to milk them, how to make goat milk products. It was really fun!
If you could visit Tumbleweed, Texas, where would you go first? And who would you most like to meet?
I’d head straight to Sweet Dreams Bakery for one of those Texas-sized cinnamon rolls and a latte. Then I’d find Jessica and find out how she’s doing with those goats!

The furry little monsters were back.
Ben Wright slid open the kitchen window only to be bombarded with giggles.
“Let’s call this one Georgie.” Sweet eight-year-old Sophie, his middle child and only daughter, held out some sort of leaf—probably from a cabbage—to a brown goat with a black stripe down its forehead. Its long ears dangled as it chomped on the leaf. The neighbor’s goats would be the death of his mother’s garden, and it didn’t help that his kids were assisting in the carnage.
“Hey, what did I tell you about the goats?” He tried not to sound harsh, but the words came out rougher than he’d intended.
Liam, his five-year-old, hopped up from a crouching position near the rows of carrots and began waving one carrot wildly. Dirt sprayed in every direction. “Hi, Daddy! Look! We found goats. Can we keep ’em?”
“Shhh…” With her finger at her lips, Sophie shook her head. “Daddy doesn’t like them.”
“Why? They’re cute.” Liam went over to a white goat with black ears and a black forehead. It just stood there, munching on something from the garden. Liam shoved the slender carrot toward its mouth. “See, Daddy? She likes it here.”
Ben gripped the counter. Don’t explode. He’s young. He doesn’t know better.
He mentally calculated what this new hiccup would do to his tight schedule. His mom, Patty Wright, hadn’t returned from town yet, and he was relying on her to watch Sophie and Liam while he coached baseball practice for his ten-year-old son, Jake. If Mom hadn’t left Tumbleweed yet, maybe he could take the younger two with him, and she could pick them up on her way home.
It wasn’t like his mother to be late.
