Let's set March goals March 2020 Jill Kemerer

Let’s Set Monthly Goals {March 2020}

I’m big on setting goals. By listing them and breaking them down into manageable chunks, I accomplish more than I think possible. My process is to set monthly goals, then at the beginning of each week, I create daily goals that will work within my current schedule.

Each month I share how I did the previous month as well as my new goals. Let’s get to it!

How Did I Do? Jill’s February Goals

  • Writing
  • Revise/polish/submit proposal for Wyoming Sweethearts book 4. CHECK!
  • Plot basic stories for new series. CHECK!
  • Start setting up promotion for The Cowboy’s Secret, releasing March 17, 2020. CHECK!
  • Health
  • Continue exercising 5 days/week CHECK!
  • Continue tracking calories/nutrition with MyFitnessPal. CHECK!
  • Add more protein to diet. NO CHECK. 🙁
  • Personal
  • Get back to my crochet project. NOPE! WHOOPS!
  • Pick out four novels to read. CHECK!
  • Go through photos to prepare a slideshow for my son’s graduation party. SORT-OF-CHECK. I STARTED DOING THIS!

It was a good month. Obviously, I dropped the ball on the Personal side, but I’m still happy with how the month turned out. On a plus side, I was able to do our taxes (YAY!!!) and attend my local writer’s group. We had a delightful speaker talk to us about getting started in genealogy. Jill Clever also told us about the many resources the Toledo Lucas County Public Library system has. I’m tempted to just head to the main library, find something that catches my eye and go down the rabbit hole of research!

  • Other
  • Finish going through photos to prepare a slideshow for my son’s graduation party.
  • Work on my crochet project
  • Go to the Toledo Art Museum and fill my creative well

Starting in April, my son’s final season of baseball begins. This and the fact he’s graduating in May will affect my writing schedule. I’m pushing hard this month to get as much done as possible. Then I can enjoy those moments without added pressure.

Do you have any big milestones, fun vacations, small-but-happy plans coming up? I’d love to hear about them!

How did you do last month? What are your March goals?

  1. MY GOALS FOR MARCH:
    Writing:
    — Finish draft of chapters 1-14 of my WIP and do some initial editing.
    — Finish draft of my nonfiction book which is due April 14. This involves other people so it can be challenging.
    — Enter the Carol Awards and the Published Maggies.
    — Prepare for a talk at my local Historical Society March 19 where I wax eloquent about the Oregon Trail and promote my book.
    — Write some guest blogs and find a place to publish them.
    Health:
    — Walk five days a week. Currently averaging two which is better than nothing but still.
    — Eat salads three days a week. Past couple weeks I was up to two, better than nothing but we’re not there yet.
    — Reschedule the colonoscopy. Don’t ask.
    — Make appointment for crown on tooth.
    Hearth and home:
    — Clean up yard now that snow almost gone.
    — Take stuff to landfill.
    — Do a really good spring cleaning.
    This should keep me busy.
Thanks Jill for helping us stay on target.

    1. Ooh, Kathy, you have some big goals! I’m cheering for you! I love that you’re juggling fiction, nonfiction and speaking. I find switching gears keeps my brain from locking up too much. Best wishes this month!!

  2. Working on those editing goals for current WIP. Also, writing tons of articles, devotions and blog posts. 🙂 I met some of my goals and even added new ones. The goals I didn’t mean will continue to be on my list.

  3. Jill, I hear you on preparing the slideshow. I was way behind on doing that when my son graduated. On the day before I was to give the pictures to the photographer who was preparing the slide show, I was up until about 3 in the morning getting them finished. I hope you are more ahead than I was.

  4. Wanna meet up at the TMA? Basketball season is almost over, so I have a bit of a breather for the next few weeks.
