Let’s Set May 2024 Goals

My writer productivity skyrockets when I set monthly writer goals, and it’s time to share my May 2024 goals. At the beginning of each week I break them down into daily tasks that fit my current schedule. Do you know how great it is to finish projects? Of course you do! For me, setting monthly goals makes it all possible.

Every month I share how I did the previous month as well as what my new goals are. Let’s get to it!

How Did I Do? Jill’s April Goals

  • Writing
  • Polish/submit proposal for book 6 in Wyoming Legacies series. CHECK!
  • Draft short synopses for all books in next Love Inspired series. CHECK!
  • Polish nonfiction project. CHECK!
  • Health
  • Exercise 5 days/week with more difficult sessions 3 of the days. NO CHECK.
  • Eat at least 5 fruits and/or vegetables every weekday. NO CHECK.
  • Personal
  • Read 15 minutes of fiction every weekday. NO CHECK.
  • Finish watching season 2 of The Way Home. CHECK!

The writing goals were met; the health goals were not. April was insanely busy with work, and I planned outings with friends that made me miss a few workouts. Unfortunately, I slid back into snacking on comfort foods rather than eating a healthy lunch. I’m up a few pounds because of it. No biggie. I’ll just get back to what works for me.

On the personal front, I started reading three or four novels, but I couldn’t get into them. I think my brain was mush. I watched more television and listened to music in the evenings instead of reading.

Jill’s May Goals

  • Writing
  • Write 45,000 words remaining of Wyoming Legacies book 6.
  • Draft proposal (without sample chapters) for next Love Inspired series.
  • Begin promotion prep for Training the K-9 Companion (available for preorder now!)
  • Health
  • Exercise 5 days/week with more difficult sessions 3 of the days. Walk on the weekend if I miss a day.
  • Eat at least 5 fruits and/or vegetables every weekday.
  • Personal
  • Start making a Christmas garland for a gift.
  • Organize my bedroom closet.

The days are growing longer, and we’ve had warm weather for the past few days. I get energized when summer draws near. I’m looking forward to all the fresh produce summer brings, especially the fruits! I’m not sure how to get out of my reading slump, but I’ll probably read some nonfiction for a while. Or read a classic novel. We’ll see.

How did you do? What are your May 2024 goals?

I’d love to hear!
