The K-9 her daughter needs…
The second chance their hearts deserve.
The last person service dog trainer Seth Hudson ever expected to see again was Caroline Bright, the woman who broke his heart. Tragedy shattered Caroline’s faith in him twelve years ago, but now the single mom is back to ask for help training a medical alert dog for her daughter, who has diabetes. Despite the tension between them, Seth can’t bring himself to refuse, even though training will mean spending lots of time together. Little Nina instantly bonds with Spud—and Seth can’t help adoring Nina. As old feelings resurface and their hearts begin to heal, can he show Caroline trust is worth rebuilding…especially if love comes next?

December was busy and rewarding. I met all my goals and had a delightful Christmas holiday. We hosted family for several days, and I was able to visit a special exhibit at the Toledo Art Museum with my daughter. The health goals took a hiatus the week between Christmas and New Years, and I don’t mind a bit. It’s my favorite time of the years! Whee!

I’ve been homebound since the beginning of January with extra, time-consuming to-do’s on my list that aren’t listed above. It’s been super cold and snowy, so I don’t mind staying indoors! It’s easy to stick to an eating and exercising routine right now too. Winter is all about finding things to do inside that don’t involve my phone. I’m enjoying reading and crafts. I’ve already started reading two books on my 2026 Want to Read Books list. The one thing I miss? Being outside. I need to go on an adventure soon!
What goals do you have for January? I’d love to hear them!
The days are already growing longer–let’s celebrate that!

Did not meet my health goals for December and looks like I’m going to fall short in January too. I ate well, but the weather prohibited my usual form of exercise, walking, and looks like that’s going to happen in January too. Goal: eat salads for lunch three times a week, eat more fruits and vegetables, and walk three times a week. Good luck with that.
I made some inroads into cleaning the house, mostly because I had to find room for the Christmas stuff. Goal: make more inroads.
And as usual, I did better on the writing than anything else. I finished the drafts of both a contemporary Christian romance and an historical about the Irish in steerage. My goal for January was to polish the Irish book and I did and submitted it last week. My writing goal for January is to do a deep edit on the contemporary, both line and content, and to shore up the weak spots. I’ll also be researching the sequel to the Irish book, when the family heads out to the prairie on their wagon train. The first novel I ever published was Oregon Trail, so I’ve come full circle.
Thank you, Jill, for keeping us in line.

I’m struggling with the cardio aspect of my health journey, too, Kathy. I was doing great taking a short walk most weekdays, but with these negative temps, I’m inside all the time.
Way to make inroads on eating produce AND cleaning the house. Yay!
And you’re rocking those writing goals, too. Love it!!
