April 2019 Goals! Jill Kemerer

April 2019 Goals!

Spring is almost here! Northern Ohio is notoriously fickle with weather throughout April. We might have a sixty-degree day, or we might have snow. You never know!

But the promise of warmer weather is here, and soon we’ll see yellow daffodils, bright tulips, and flowers on the trees. I’m excited!

It’s time to review and set our goals. March felt like a whirlwind to me. I’m kind of glad. It’s always so dreary and cold–I’m glad it’s over.

Jill’s March 2019 Goals

  • Copy edits for Christmas novella
  • Expand plot for book 2 in the Love Inspired cowboy series
  • Draft proposal for book 2 in the Love Inspired cowboy series
  • Set up promo for His Wyoming Baby Blessing
  • Health: Track calories, meet fiber goals, exercise 5 days/week

How did I do?

  • Copy edits for Christmas novella: CHECK
  • Expand plot for book 2 in the Love Inspired cowboy series: CHECK (I still have some synopsis work to do for this, though.)
  • Draft proposal for book 2 in the Love Inspired cowboy series: NO CHECK. I’m still shy two scenes. Then the entire thing will need to be revised and polished.
  • Set up promo for His Wyoming Baby Blessing. CHECK
  • Health: Track calories, meet fiber goals, exercise 5 days/week. NO CHECK. I stopped tracking calories, and I’m maintaining my weight.

  1. OK, I can do this.
    — Write five guest blogs in advance of my September debut novel
    — Work on marketing plan for September debut.
    — Research and plot the third book in the “Western Dreams” series, which begins with the debut novel.
    — Continue pitching my two unsold series.
    — Continue editing the book I’m working on with my crit partner and give her work the same amount of care she gives mine. Finish current round of edits.
I’m taking a temp job the last three weeks of April, to support my writing habit, so most of these goals are deliberately open-ended. If I make considerable progress on any of them, I’m fine.
Thank you Jill for keeping us on track.

    1. Ooh, September is the big debut release! Hooray!! Look at these great goals! Best wishes with your temp job–praying you’ll squeeze your writing goals in with it!

  2. Oh, I forgot HEALTH! I gained eight pounds since fall 2018. In the maternity ward, that’s the equivalent of another whole human being. Color me mortified. My health goal is to eat salads for lunch three days a week and to up my walking schedule to five days a week, three of the long route and two of the short. I was doing three of the short. We’ll see. Like to lose 10 by fall, but will settle for the eight.

  3. Our weather in Illinois is very similar. Just this last Sunday we had flurries. The last two days have been in the high 40’s. Sigh, But, I can see the starting’s of spring popping up everywhere. My husband and I have already ordered veggies and flowers. And since I cant get on the ground anymore, we have ordered raised garden beds for some of the garden. I am so excited to get out into the warm sunshine again and putz in the yard. Three of the four goals for March were completed. I have set goals for April. I have a list of eight. Oh my. We will see how much I can get done. My hardest one is loosing weight. Have a fantastic week.

    1. Warm sunshine, raised beds for the garden, and putzing in the yard sound marvelous! It won’t be long now… 🙂 Good job on getting most of your March goals completed! Losing weight is tough on us all!
