Let’s Set February 2026 Goals!

My writer productivity skyrockets when I set monthly writer goals, and it’s time to share my February goals. At the beginning of each week I break them down into daily tasks that fit my current schedule. Do you know how great it is to finish projects? Of course you do! For me, setting monthly goals makes it all possible.

Every month I share how I did the previous month as well as what my new goals are. Let’s get to it!

*I apologize for posting January’s goals so late last month! I’ll do my best to keep to our normal schedule–the first Wednesday of the month–for the rest of the year.*

How did I do? JILL’S JANUARY 2026 GOALS

WRITING:

  • Revise and submit to agent a proposal for a trade-length book. CHECK!
  • Plot, write synopsis and sample chapter for a new LI project. CHECK!
  • Content edit the fourth book in my Wyoming Inheritance series. CHECK!
  • Work on promo/marketing for A K-9 To Reunite Them and the Tumbleweed Texas continuity (launches 01/27/26!) CHECK!

HEALTH:

  • Continue eating lower carb, whole foods w/emphasis on high protein during the week. NO CHECK
  • Exercise for 20-45 minutes every weekday morning. CHECK!
  • Mini-workouts at least 5 evenings a week–a 10 minute walk, or 15 minutes on the stationary bike, mobility exercises, etc. CHECK!

PERSONAL:

  • Do a jigsaw puzzle. CHECK!
  • Read one sports memoir. CHECK!
  • One page in art journal per week. I’m focusing on paper art and drawing at this time. CHECK!

I accomplished a lot in January. And my February writing goals will be lofty again. Although it means long days, I hope I can pull them off! The health habits were okay. I was eating sporadically and didn’t get as much protein each day as I’d hoped. Also, I’ve been eating less fresh produce–it’s winter after all–and that doesn’t help. But I exercised daily and did the mini-workouts each night, so that’s a win. Oh, and since it’s been so cold here, I’ve barely left the house. So the personal goals have been no problem at all.

JILL’S FEBRUARY 2026 GOALS

WRITING:

  • Revise/submit Wyoming Inheritance book 4
  • Plot/draft the synopsis and first 3 chapters of Wyoming Inheritance book 5
  • Write 7500 words on a different project
  • Promote my February release, A K-9 To Reunite Them

HEALTH:

  • Add more fresh produce to my lower carb/high protein eating plan
  • Exercise for 20-45 minutes every weekday morning
  • Mini-workouts at least 5 evenings a week–a 10 minute walk, or 15 minutes on the stationary bike, mobility exercises, etc.

PERSONAL:

  • Do a jigsaw puzzle
  • Play around with watercolors
  • One page in art journal per week.
  • Spend a weekend with my daughter!

I’m not sure I’ll be able to pull off 7500 words on a WIP while meeting my Love Inspired goals for the month, but we’ll see. You don’t know until you try, right? The health habits are automatic at this point, but I’m looking forward to warmer weather. I’m so much more active! It’s not as difficult to maintain my weight when it’s nice out.

The personal goals help keep me from scrolling on my phone. I enjoy art projects, puzzles, reading books! And I already have a weekend planned with my daughter, so that will be fun.

What goals do you have for February? I’d love to hear them!

If this weather doesn’t bust out of the teens soon, I’m going to lose it! I’m glad February is short!
