Let’s Set April 2026 Goals!

My writer productivity skyrockets when I set monthly writer goals, and it’s time to share my April 2026 goals. At the beginning of each week I break them down into daily tasks that fit my current schedule. Do you know how great it is to finish projects? Of course you do! For me, setting monthly goals makes it all possible.

Every month I share how I did the previous month as well as what my new goals are. Let’s get to it!

HOW DID I DO? JILL’S MARCH 2026 GOALS

WRITING:

  • Write 50k words of an upcoming Love Inspired novel. No check.
  • Continue promoting A K-9 To Reunite Them. Check!
  • Prep for book signing (see below if you’ll be in the Orlando area March 17th!). Check!
  • Prep workshops I’ll be teaching at a writers retreat. Check!

HEALTH:

  • Continue doing what I’m doing. The lower carb/higher protein meal plan works for me. No Check.
  • Exercise for 20-45 minutes every weekday morning. Check!
  • Mini-workouts at least 5 evenings a week–a 10 minute walk, or 15 minutes on the stationary bike, mobility exercises, etc. Check!

PERSONAL:

  • Do a jigsaw puzzle. Check!
  • Fill out a bracket for March Madness. No check.
  • Enjoy sunny Orlando and the retreat! Check!

I struggled to meet all my goals last month. I ended up being 10,000 words shy of my Love Inspired book goal, but I finished it by Easter, so I’m happy with that. With the retreat, I didn’t have time or energy to fill out a March Madness bracket, but I had a lot of fun watching Michigan’s games!

The health goals have been slipping…and I’m ready to change things up with summer around the corner. I’ve been eating more carbs and less protein. I get lazy about what to eat for lunch. As for personal, I did very little in March. Barely left the house (except for the retreat, which was wonderful!). I’m setting an out-of-the-house goal for April!

JILL’S APRIL 2026 GOALS

WRITING:

  • Revise contracted Love Inspired novel
  • Set up promotion for The Rancher’s Unlikely Match
  • Work on trade-length novel for 1 hour at a time 3 days/week

HEALTH:

  • Come up with a list of high-protein breakfasts and lunches.
  • Exercise for 20-45 minutes every weekday morning
  • Mini-workouts at least 5 evenings a week–a 10 minute walk, or 15 minutes on the stationary bike, mobility exercises, etc.

PERSONAL:

  • Do a jigsaw puzzle
  • Have one adventure in the Toledo area
  • Finish watching The Hobbit trilogy

I haven’t been intentional with my eating plan, so I’m going to GET intentional about it again. When I have a list of breakfasts and lunches that I know are low carb/high protein, I eat them and my weight stays level. Sure, I’d like to lose pounds, but I’m happy at stable, too! My writing schedule will be busy for the next couple of months, and I’m just doing my best to keep up with it. I’m trying to fit a week of staycation into June. I could really use it!

What goals do you have for April? I’d love to hear them!
