Q & A with Lee Tobin McClain
- Have you ever written a book as part of a continuity before? What did you enjoy about it? What challenged you?
I’ve written as a part of several continuities, two indie and two with Harlequin. Some were easy, some hard. It all boils down to the planning and the people. The Tumbleweed, Texas group was fabulous! The advance planning was solid, and communication was open. I had a blast working with Mindy, Jill, and Tina. - What about this book will readers enjoy the most? The feelings that develop between Coach Mike and the young daughter he never knew he had. Emma is a happy little girl with a good life, but when she finds out her fun new neighbor is actually her daddy, she is over the moon. And Mike, who grew up in a troubled family and who never intended to be a father, falls instantly in love with young Emma. Since he never fell out of love with Emma’s mom, the three of them are destined to become a family.
- What research did you need to do? I had a lot of fun researching football so I could understand Mike’s background as an NFL player. Fortunately, my significant other is a rabid football fan who played Division One college ball as well as high school football. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge, and I enjoyed going to Pitt and Steelers games with him!
- If you could visit Tumbleweed, Texas, where would you go first? And who would you most like to meet? As a teacher from a family of teachers, I’d head to the high school to watch my heroine, Kayla, mentor Coach Mike in the art of teaching. Then I’d head to the Friendly Fork diner for a bite to eat. Finally, I’d get my hair done at the Beauty Lounge, so I could catch up on all the gossip from Ginger Jackson, the owner.
Thanks, Lee!

Despite the tension between them, Seth can’t bring himself to refuse, even though training will mean spending lots of time together. Little Nina instantly bonds with Spud—and Seth can’t help adoring Nina. As old feelings resurface and their hearts begin to heal, can he show Caroline trust is worth rebuilding…especially if love comes next?
