What Are Your Goals? {Nov 2019}

November is here! Only two months left of 2019–and I am ready to crush them. October was good. I pushed myself to finish the draft of my current project. Whenever I felt like stopping early, I’d think of Thanksgiving and Christmas and how much I want to enjoy the holidays. It motivated me!

Sometimes having a reason to finish early makes all the difference.

Let’s take a look at my October goals and how I did. Then I’ll share my November goals. Please leave YOUR goals in the comments!

Jill’s October 2019 Goals: How Did I Do?

  • WRITING:
  • Draft 50 pages of a new story. Check.
  • Continue drafting current project. Double check–I finished the draft!
  • Set up promo for December release, Her Cowboy Till Christmas. Check.
  • Promote Western Christmas Wishes, in stores October 15! Check. This was easy. I love having a new book in stores.
  • HEALTH: (Long-term goal – Lose 10 pounds)
  • Track calories 6 days/week with MyFitnessPal. Check, but my weight fluctuated all month.
  • Exercise 5 days/week. Check. I’m enjoying this routine. I do five different workouts each week.
  • Eat more high protein and high fiber foods. Half Check. Three weeks into the month I got really frustrated and decided to ignore the fiber. I’ve been a much nicer person ever since. 🙂
  • OTHER:
  • Check out a local park I’ve never been to. No check, but I did go to two other parks to see the fall colors!
  • Read the Jody Hedlund novel I ordered. No check. The book didn’t come in. 🙁 I’ve reordered it.
  • Watch Halloween Baking Championship (because it makes me happy!). Check!

Jill’s November 2019 Goals:

  • WRITING:
  • Revise/polish proposal and send to agent.
  • Promote Her Cowboy Till Christmas, releasing November 19!
  • Content edit the draft I wrote in October.
  • HEALTH:
  • Exercise 5 days/week.
  • Log calories using MyFitnessPal.
  • Eat more produce!
  • OTHER:
  • Make a Christmas list.
  • Start buying presents.
  • Read one novel.
  • Check out the newly remodeled Main Library in downtown Toledo.

November is a shorter month for me since we celebrate Thanksgiving with family over a long weekend. I will be following VERY detailed weekly plans all month.

I’m cheering you on! Let’s make the most of this month!

What are your November goals? Leave a comment!

Stop back next month to see how I did and what I plan to do next. Have a fabulous day!

  1. Hey, Jill. You mentioned fiber. Have you tried Fiber One brownies or cheesecake bars? I think even the Protein One bars have some fiber in them. Those have been easy ways for me to add a little extra fiber into my diet, along with a fiber powder that I add to my supposed-to-be-daily-but-I’m-lucky-if-I-get-one-a-week healthy shakes. (This time of year is nuts.) I don’t fret over the fiber, but having those snacks on hand has been helpful. They’re too easy to grab, honestly. Lol.

Congrats on the new book! I bought a copy… and too many other books from the Harlequin Love Inspired line. 😉

As for goals, I’m doing NaNo this month, but I’m a NaNo Rebel, as I’m editing rather than first-drafting it. I’m working on an epic story about a 15-time World Champion boxer who wakes up with amnesia in an African mission hospital and the doctor who might know more than he’s telling. I’m about a fifth of the way through the edits right now, so I’m hopeful I can wrap up this round of edits by the end of the month.

  2. I did okay on October except for health. Did not walk enough, did not eat salads. Was in the car most of the time if that’s any excuse. Hard to eat a salad while driving. Don’t ask me how I know that.
Satisfied with progress I made on Christmas novella and nonfiction book, but still a great deal of work to be done. The nonfiction book is hard because so much depends on other people. The novella is my own, I’ve got no excuse. I was supposed to be doing research for the novel I’m starting in January. That DID fall by the wayside, hope to pick up on it this month.
    November:
Writing: Continue to promote my September release, “Westward Hope,” with Pelican/White Rose. I’m about to run out of family and friends.
Promote my December Christmas novella, “The Logger’s Christmas Bride,” out Dec. 1 as part of Pelican’s Christmas Extravaganza.
Finish this draft of my 2020 Christmas novella and let it sit till, well, 2020.
Get back to research on the book I want to start in January. I have a lot done already, but I’m going for a “you are there” feel.
    Health:
    Get back to walking.
    Salads!
Don’t fall off diabetic wagon over holidays.
    Spiritual:
    Way more time in prayer.
Prepare my heart for Advent, which will prepare my heart for Christ.
This is a good exercise, thanks Jill.

    1. Celebrate the wins, Kathy! I’m adding more vegetables to my lunches. It’s helping a lot!
Congrats on your upcoming deadlines–it’s good to have them. You’ll get it all done. I love the idea of preparing your heart for Advent. Too often, the season arrives and I’m frazzled. I’m taking this tip from you!
