October 2019 goals Jill Kemerer Blog

What Are Your Goals?{October 2019}

It’s time to set monthly goals again! I didn’t plan on taking a summer blog break, but I’m glad I did. Both of my kids are seniors this year. One is a senior in high school and the other is a senior in college. I had my hands full getting ready for this!

With the change of seasons brought a return to my routine. I do love having a routine! I’ve changed the goal format slightly by breaking my goals into three categories: writing, health, and other. I hope you will share yours with me in the comments!

Jill’s October 2019 Goals

  • HEALTH: (Long-term goal – Lose 10 pounds)
  • Track calories 6 days/week with MyFitnessPal
  • Exercise 5 days/week
  • Eat more high protein and high fiber foods
  • OTHER:
  • Check out a local park I’ve never been to
  • Read the Jody Hedlund novel I ordered
  • Watch Halloween Baking Championship (because it makes me happy!)

October is usually an ambitious month for me, and this one is no different. I like to push myself before the holidays distract me.

What are your October goals? Leave a comment!

Stop back next month to see how I did and what I plan to do next. Have a fabulous day!

  1. Oh, Jill, I’ve missed this. And need it.
    Writing:
–Promote my new release, “Westward Hope,” with Pelican Book Group.
    — Revise a manuscript that an agent at ACFW-San Antonio is willing to look at.
    — Finish the draft of my 2020 Christmas novella.
    — Draft 15 to 20 pages of the nonfiction book I’m doing with my daughter. We’re contracted with Arcadia Publishing for one of their small-town photo books, heavy on the art, but still needing content. It’s completely different from fiction!
    Health:
    — Get back to walking. Amazingly, I did not gain weight over the summer, despite seeking comfort in full-fat ice cream and fried clams. But I still have to be careful, and with the diabetes, even more careful.
    — Eat more salads. Before the lettuce wilts and I have to throw it away.
    Home and hearth:
    — Wash the windows and bring down the storm windows.
    — Stack the wood. Or at least get it into the basement.
    — Clean up the garden.
    — Trim the fat from our possessions. We’re not hoarders, they tend to be dirty and have animals, but we’re definitely pack rats.
    Spiritually
    — Spend more time in His presence, instead of presenting a laundry list.
    — Keep up with my “Bible In a Year” schedule.
    — Be more aware of the needs of others around me.
Thanks, Jill. Were you at ACFW? I didn’t see you, but that doesn’t mean anything, it was a big crowd. Blessings to you!

    1. Kathy, I LOVE this! I need it, too. You are busy! With so many exciting projects–good for you!
I’m so happy about your new books, the nonfiction with your daughter, and getting agent interest–yay!! No, I wasn’t able to attend ACFW. I miss going. I always enjoy being around other writers. Best wishes on your goals this month! I know you’ll do great!

  2. I love thinking about goals.
    1. Writing more stories
    2. Having stories edited
    3. Lose weight
    4. Walking more
…and so many more goals. Most of all, I want to share more time with God and remember to glorify Him.
    Have a blessed week !!

    1. Your goals and mine are a lot alike! Love it! Yay for writing more stories and having them edited! Woohoo! Lose weight? Yeah, me too. 🙂 Walking more is not on my agenda, though, because the weather will be turning soon. I’m being proactive and doing DVD workouts, since every year without fail as soon as it gets cold, my entire exercise routine falls apart! Haha!

      Best wishes on your goals!!
