My Favorite Hymns {Day One}
I couldn’t sleep the other night. Instead of tossing and turning, I crept to my office and pulled my old hymnal off the shelf. As I paged through book, my favorite hymns kept popping up. Just reading the titles took me on a trip down memory lane.
Growing up, my sister and I attended Christian schools. We memorized hymns and sang in church often. I remember as a child singing “I Come, O Savior, To Your Table” during communion at least once a month. I would always watch a woman, in her thirties at the time, sing with gusto. She seemed so pretty and faith-filled to me. I still love that song!
For the next several days, I’ll be sharing a favorite hymn here. I hope they comfort and encourage you as well as give you strength.

I’m kicking off My Favorite Hymns – Day One – with my Grandma B.’s favorite. She had a Fun Machine–basically a compact organ/keyboard–and I remember her playing this song many a time. She told me it was her favorite. I wasn’t surprised!

Jill, WHAT a great time for these posts! I love the “older’ hymns (anything Gaither and before) for the depth of theology and spiritual understanding. They’re not just “one two three, God loves me.” And we need to cling to those thoughts at this time. Off the top of my head I can think of “How Firm A Foundation,” a real rallying cry for the here and now.
BTW, bought your new book yesterday and it’s in my TBRFTCV (to be read for corona virus) pile.

HA! BTW also, I’m keeping on track with my writing goals because I can’t go anywhere and there’s no place to go. I shall have a better-than-usual report for April.

This is great, especially during times like this. This song was my church’s closing song every Sunday. It was a good reminder that we are never alone. This was also on the Titanic, LOL! Nonetheless, I loved hearing it!

This is my favorite hymn of all times. I use to love when it was time for the kids to do this for memory work.
And I love hearing that your kids learned it for memory work! My kids learned hymns when they were younger, too!
