My Favorite Hymns {Day Four}
Today’s hymn is an uplifting one. The tune I grew up with is this one. It might not be the version you’ve heard. It’s performed by the Lutheran Quartet. They do a beautiful job. I do wish you could hear this version by a full church congregation. It’s powerful!

Jill, I LOVE THIS. In our hymnal we call it “The Solid Rock.” You cannot go wrong with Isaac Watts, who also produced “When I Survey The Wondrous Cross.”
What’s going through my head this week is “I’ll fly away oh glory I’ll fly away IN THE MORNING” and “In the Sweet By and By.” Both songs of Heaven and reminding us that this world is not our home.

electric guitars and drums in the service, I’m from the 60s, hello, I got that old time rock ‘n roll, but I miss the depth of theology in the old songs. Although even back in the day people didn’t always get it. I remember having to explain the metaphor in “Let Thy Mantle Fall On Me” to one of my husband’s Bible college classmates. In Bible college.
Keep these coming, this is a fine way to weather you-know-what.
