Let’s Set Goals {June 2020}

Let’s Set Goals {June 2020}

I’m big on setting monthly goals. By listing them and breaking them down into manageable chunks, I accomplish more than I think possible. My process is to set monthly goals, then at the beginning of each week, I create daily goals that will work within my current schedule.

Each month I share how I did the previous month as well as my new goals. Let’s get to it!

How Did I Do? Jill’s May 2020 Goals

  • Writing
  • Fill out art fact sheets and prepare title list for Wyoming Sweethearts Book 4. CHECK.
  • Write sample chapters and proposal for new Love Inspired series. CHECK! I finished this early. Yay!
  • Plot short story. NO CHECK. The creative juices weren’t flowing.
  • Health
  • Exercise 5 days/week. CHECK!
  • Go back to tracking food intake with MyFitnessPal. NO CHECK. I have no excuse!
  • Other
  • Celebrate my son’s high school graduation. Try to come up with ways to make it special. CHECK! We made the most of what we were given. I’m so proud of him!
  • Keep praying. CHECK!

You can check out last month’s goal post HERE.

By the middle of the month I started feeling more normal. I found it easier to meet my goals, but I just didn’t feel like tracking my food. Yes, I gained a few pounds. Time to scale it back before the weight creeps up!

Jill’s June 2020 Goals

  • Writing
  • Finish writing the first draft of a new project. This is a BIG goal. I have about 65,000 words to write!

It’s been a wild year so far. How are you doing? I’ve had a lot of ups and downs. I’m sure you have, too. I keep clinging to God’s word. When I don’t know what to do, I pray.

Psalm 143:10 (HCSB) Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. May your gracious Spirit lead me on level ground.

How did you do? What are your new goals?

I’d love to hear them! Share in the comments!

  1. Great goals and accomplishments Jill. I continue to write every day. From articles, devotions, blog posts to fiction and non-fiction, I am filled with ideas to share. Praying first before writing. 🙂 Thank you for your encouragement and inspiration.

  2. Oh Jill Jill Jill…Half the year is like, you know, gone.
    Despite COVID 19 and being home more I have not: cleaned a closet, baked bread, taken up a musical instrument, organized family photos, rediscovered the joy of board games or cleaned up the yard any more than I usually do in the spring. I’ve watched a lot of old TV Westerns, but I chalk that up as research, ha ha.
    I did start working on my health goals, reintroducing salads and walking to my so-called life and trying to undo some of the damage the winter did. We are not there yet weight-wise, but we’re not where we were either.
    BUT… I did write. I finished the draft of my third Western Dreams novel and finished a Christmas novella for my publisher’s annual novella-fest. My nonfiction history book is with the publisher, and I’ve been working on blogs and presentations for the second Western Dreams, coming out in e-book July 17 and paper some time this fall. I refuse to be COVID-shamed (yes that’s a thing). I am aware that I will NEVER have this much time to write again and I aim to use it right.
    Oh a new Love Inspired series from you, yay!

  3. Jill!!! I just love your goal posts. They inspire me. To that inspiration, I have finally created my author website and set up weekly blog posts (on Wednesdays) on my blog. Also, I post the first Thursdays of the month at Seriously Write (seriouslywrite.blogspot.com). I’ve been running several days a week, and I have been writing regularly on the story I’m working on. Thank you, Jill, for your inspiration!!
