What Are Your Weekend Plans?

My kids went back to school yesterday. I could use two more weeks of summer, but we all survived. It’s been beautiful weather–hot, but not too hot, temps with blue skies and sunshine. Adjusting to the earlier alarm will take time.

A friend recently asked me my weekend plans, and I opened my mouth to speak, then shut it, frowning. I couldn’t remember. How was that possible? I pulled up my calendar app and got out my teeny-tiny purse calendar. Nothing!

It hit me. We have a FREE weekend!! No plans!

*throws confetti, dances a jig, twirls with head tossed back and arms open wide*

This phenomenon happens about three times a year. Beginning next week, our Saturdays and Sundays will be packed with commitments. But this weekend–this glorious summer, no plans weekend!–I’m kicking off my flip flops, ordering a pizza, and reading a stack of magazines.

Life is good!

What are your weekend plans?

  1. I’ll be finishing the laundry and packing my bags. I’ll be trying to decide which pens, brushes, ink and paints I should take and how much I should bring (the hard part). Sunday, I leave for Ender’s Island in Mystic, CT for a week long art retreat at St. Michael’s Institute for Sacred Art.

    Enjoy your weekend!

    1. Ooh! CJ! You’re going to have an amazing time! I really think you just bring it all. 🙂 What if you get inspired and don’t have the right tool? Well, you could probably buy new… Have a wonderful week!!

  2. Aside from working on my revisions, I’ll be reading Unexpected Family. I plan to pick it up @ Walmart today! Woot!
    Enjoy your free weekend, Jill.

  3. I’m hoping to make it to church again on Sunday, I actually felt good enough for the first time in almost 3 years a couple weeks ago!! Squeal!!!!!

  4. I got to participate in a Relay for Life – a cancer walk/run fundraising event. It was actually really moving – I don’t know anyone whose life hasn’t been touched – in some way – by cancer. I was glad to get to be there.

  5. It’s Sunday evening. We had no plans for the weekend. I went to church this morning and PLANNED to come home and start some laundry. One of my friends got to feeling bad at church. A lady who is a nurse got called out of worship, A bit later, a man who is a fireman/EMT got called out. As service was winding down we heard sirens extremely close to the building. The ambulance took my friend to the ER. I told people I would go home and tell my hubby what was going on and I was going to the hospital down the street. I was there for two hours with my friend. Her mother had someone take her home. She does not do well when her daughter is in this state. (Health issues, herself.) I got out of church at 12:00 noon and got back home at 2:45.

    We had a meal.
I got one load of clothes into the washer and switched things to the dryer. Been trying to deal with my printer since then. So much for not having anything special planned.

    1. Oh no! Cecelia, that sounds rough. I hope your friend is doing better. Good thing your church as nurses and EMT’s attending, right?

I had printer issues, too. I upgraded to Windows 10, and my perfectly good but older printer was no longer compatible. I ended up buying a new printer, and it took 2-3 hours to set up. Ugh.

      Sending you hugs!
      Jill
