Weekend Plans?

It’s the 4th of July weekend, and I’m excited about it. First of all, the forecast calls for NO rain. It’s been a rainy, flooded mess here, so sunshine is something to celebrate. Second of all, there are a bajillion different fireworks’ displays nearby. I love fireworks! Thirdly, I plan on baking brownies. Not a big deal for many people, but brownie dough tastes fabulous.

Two other things I’m looking forward to?

This:

Crazy Little Thing Called Love

And this:

A Rancher for Their Mom

Yes, I’ll be kicking back with those two lovelies. What’s better than fireworks, sunshine, brownies and books?

Do you have weekend plans? Are you excited about them?

Have a safe and terrific weekend!

  1. It will be a quiet weekend in my beloved sun room. We missed watching the fireworks from my brother’s deck because Himself had a stomach bug. We’ll watch the fireworks from the Esplanade in Boston on tv as consolation.

  2. This evening,I will ride on our church’s float in the Independance Day Parade. Tomorrow Husband will watch a race. Our son is camping in southwest Indiana.

  3. My weekend was where so many of my 4th of July celebrations have taken place for several years now: out at Raccoon Creek State Park in W PA. Lots of yummy food, “campground hikes”, hike on the Beach Trail, reading books, doing puzzles, sneaking in naps (my naps were taken in a hammock!), campfires (yes, we did have S’mores one night), Dominoes since it decided to pour down rain and put out our fire one evening, and 2 Uno marathons.
Other than the rain and bugs trying to bite me to bits, it turned out to be quite pleasant weather-wise. We even saw a mamma deer and 2 fawns the first evening (no pics), and we saw a female several times very close to our campsite (I did get a few nice pics of her)

Sunday evening is a concert in the park in Beaver by the Beaver County Symphonic Wind Ensemble. This one has tons of patriotic music in particular. With the nice weather, we’re expecting a big crowd! (I am just a listener, but my mom plays a French Horn and my dad plays a sax in the group.)

No fireworks for me this year.
In the past, we’ve gone to downtown Pittsburgh, Midland (too many trees and really couldn’t see any of them), Freedom, Independence Township, and Moon Township to see fireworks. Although the fireworks downtown are fantastic, the music is too much “other non-pleasant racket” … Moon Township still has the best music to go with the fireworks. We were just talking about the fireworks a VMI in VA – they had been bragging about how great their improved fireworks would be that year …. one went off…………………………………
one went off………………………………………………………. one went off…………………………………
it was like 30-45 seconds between each one!

My grandmother and aunt LOVED 4th of July. They decorated the house and garage, set up the sand box and games and Slip ‘n’ Slide for us kids They plotted out all of the food; my grandmother even had little flags to put in many of the dishes.
There were Snappers and sparklers for us to use too.

    1. How fun is that, Megan?? I nodded at so much of what you described! We have had many a UNO war! Reading books is ALWAYS on my list, and some firework displays are better than others! Sounds like you had a blast!
