And Then There Was One…Truffle

I’ve had a two pack of white peppermint Lindor truffles on my desk all week. These little delights are so delicious, you can’t help but close your eyes and black out a teeny bit while eating them. So smooth. So creamy. So full of calories and sugar. Bummer.

And Then There Was One...Truffle

Yeah, I’m in healthy mode. Not all-or-nothing  mode. Nope. I don’t do restrictive diets. I just know that a truffle a day keeps the doctor away–wait, that can’t be right. A truffle a day makes my skinny jeans go away? Sounds more realistic.

So  the candy. It stares at me. But I wink at it. And I save it for the day I really, really need it. Like on Wednesday, when 2pm rolled around and I felt that my entire body would explode if I didn’t have an ice cold can of Coke right that minute. And when I cracked that can open, I eyed the truffles. I thought, why not? The package itself says, “Irresistibly Smooth.” I can attest to that fact.

Irresistibly Smooth!

I didn’t feel guilty about eating the truffle and drinking the Coke, but it did force me to rethink my afternoon snack. Usually I have a very healthy smoothie (2 fruits, 1 vegetable–my recipe is HERE), but at just under 300 calories, I couldn’t afford the truffle and the Coke and the smoothie. So I skipped the smoothie.

Hey, it’s all about moderation. The rest of the week I made good choices. And I’m pretty excited I still have another truffle! Maybe it will be a Wednesday thing…okay, now I’m getting crazy. 🙂

Are you on a health kick? How is it going for you?

Have a fabulous weekend!!

  1. Hey! Those candies look at you and look at you, capturing your thoughts, making you want them! lol. I stopped drinking Coke almost a year ago now. It will be a year in March. I had tried stopping before, but always went back. This time, you know what stopped me? Knowing it’s addictive. The more I drank, the more I wanted. And then I get headaches if I didn’t drink enough. So I stopped drinking it. Now, when I go out to eat, if I want a Coke, I wait until the food comes, and only drink one.

As far as eating healthy, I don’t like vegetables. Why can’t chocolate be a vegetable? It should be! But that gives me headaches too so I don’t eat too much of that either. Then I started running last summer. I find I run better if I watch what I eat. But I love potato skins and lots of sour cream lol. Even though I love the snow, and I’m still waiting for the first snowstorm to hit, I can’t wait for longer sunlight in the evenings so I can run after work again.

    1. I love hearing how you’ve kicked some of your unhealthy habits! I’ve drastically cut back on my soda consumption over the years. I try to avoid it on weekdays (but if I have a can now and then, I don’t flip out!).

Chocolate really should be a veggie! I love candy! I’m impressed that you’re a runner! Both my kids run, but I’m more of a shuffler. 🙂 I do enjoy power walking–all year round. I don’t care if it’s snowing. Makes it quiet and pretty! Just like you, I can’t wait until we have longer evenings again. Being outside makes me feel alive!

  2. I know exactly how you’re feeling about that truffle – we had some Williams Sonoma peppermint bark here over the holidays…and the day there was only one teeny, tiny chunk left my heart let out a little cry of dispair…and then I ate it. 😀

Actually, I’m on a health kick, too. Moderation, basically, but I’m also trying to kick my too-many-cokes-a-day habit. So far (week 1), I’ve done pretty well. Had 2 days with 0 cokes (yay!) and the other days only a single can. Between the pop thing and my VivoFit chirping at me to get up and move every hour or so, and the moderation in calories and the increase in veggies, I think I’m doing pretty okay. Oh, and I’m totally stealing your smoothie recipe. I think I want one of those ninja/nutribullet things…

    1. Yay, you, Kristina!! I hear you on the moderation! I’m drinking less pop, but I’m not giving it up altogether. That’s great on cutting back! How do you like the VivoFit? I’ve been considering getting something too. My hubby has a FitBit. 🙂

  3. Jill: I am Gluten-Free.I am continually on a health kick, if not I get into trouble. When I can get to the grocery stores again, I will be looking for a particular brand of G-F flour to try to bake some goodies for myself and a couple of friends, also Gluten-Free,

    1. I understand. While I feel bad you have to eliminate the gluten, I’m glad there are so many good products readily available. Have fun shopping and trying new recipes!
